I can imagine someone taking advantage of it to "enhance" the movement of the legs as a herd of horses gallops by. In fact, it seems to me that the fp-L might offer creavive capabilities most people overlook, like weird and unusual artistic warping capabilities for shooting close-up, wide-angle shots of skaters or trick biclycle riders on a half-pipe. Like almost anything, I think the electronic shutter, which makes the camera silent and more reliable, has advantages that offset any disadvantages that the electronic shutter causes. It almost seems as if it's as good as it is bad. I think Mike has one, and he hasn't been plagued by the "problem" of the electronic shutter. I just don't see people's photos being ruined by it. Can one take a photo that shows the affect? Sure. yet in every review the vast majority of the photos make the cameras seem excellent. I've been reading so many comments about the fp and fp-L that say it's no good because of the rolling shutter affect which happens not only in video, but in stills too. And that could relate to how talented and accomplished the user is. I would propose that the answer to the issues presented is going to depend to a large extent on how the camera is used. Is it perfect? For all purposes? Apparently not. ![]() People seem to like the fp/fpL output (aka results). The fp/fpL output (images) actually looks (to me) quite good. The solution would seem to lie in the reading and believing area. The common and I think erroneous assumption seems to be that all the other choices/options are excellent and flawless. Yes, one would be hesitant if one were to read AND believe all the "negative" fp/fpL posts. So, to all owners of the fp L, how bad is the electronic shutter distortion? It would be great to see some sample shots! Please post! I've been interested in purchasing a fp L for a while, but am a little bit put off by the thought that the electronic shutter might be too slow, and the artifacts from it might make it unusable for casual street photos and landscapes under windy conditions.Īnother possible issue might arise when photographing river water turbulence, making waves distorted and so on.Ī recent poster who owns a fp L asked if anyone had a test for them. ![]()
